Life Benefits
If the child dies while covered for life benefits, the designated beneficiary will be paid the amount of life benefits that is in effect on the date of death.
Ability to Continue Coverage
If an insured member under the Young Texan Plan has his or her life insurance benefits terminated, then the insured may be eligible to apply for an individual life insurance policy without the need to provide evidence of insurability.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefits
If the child dies as a result of a covered accident, an additional benefit will be paid equal to the life insurance benefit. The amount that may be paid for losses other than death are described in the Table of Covered Losses and Benefit Amounts below. This Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefit is paid if the loss occurs within 3 months of the accident. No more than the full amount of the Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefit will be paid for a covered loss that results from injuries sustained in one accident. Accordingly, the maximum payout under the policy will be two times the amount of the basic life insurance coverage (life benefit plus the full amount of the Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefit) plus the Seat Belt and Air Bag benefits, if applicable.
