Scott & White Health Plan Officials Educate Seniors
about new Medicare Prescription Drug Plan

As senior citizens nationwide express confusion about the new Medicare prescription drug plan, Scott & White Health Plan officials continue to offer education about the choices.

Enrollment in the new Medicare Part D begins today and extends until May 15. Scott & White Health Plan is one of 21 entities to offer Medicare prescription drug coverage in Texas.

As with any new, complex program, Scott & White Health Plan Executive Director Allan Einboden noted that seniors may need additional help understanding the changes.

"We have already seen more than 6,500 people in our ongoing seminars," Einboden said. "During this critical time, we are working hard to help everyone overcome the confusion of this new plan."  

With all the focus on the new Medicare plan, Einboden said many seniors might not realize they are covered under their existing health plan.

"We encourage seniors to first talk with their current provider, before investigating other options," Einboden said.

When asked what the most important thing Seniors and Medicare eligible people should be doing, Dr. Craig Clanton, medical director of the Scott & White Health Plan, said, "they should consider their options and don't base decisions on current drug costs. Consider your future needs."

Scott & White Health Plan will continue to host Medicare Part D educational seminars through May 2006. These seminars provide information about Scott & White Health Plans and Texas Rx Medicare Prescription Drug plans, including Summary of Benefits, Formulary and Pharmacy Directory.
