Preventive Health Guidelines
The following guidelines were developed by doctors at Scott and White and approved by the Scott & White Health Plan Quality Improvement Sub-committee. They are based on the best practice recommendations of recognized health organizations, and associations. Guidelines are reviewed every two years, and updated as recommendations change. The guidelines are not meant to dictate the care you receive. Your doctor can advise you concerning which tests and exams are needed based on your individual risk factors and overall health issues. You may review the following guideline tables or read our 2006 Preventive Health Guidelines booklet in it's entirety.

- Find your age at the top of the table.
- The required tests are listed on the left side.
- Scan down the table to find which tests are recommended for your age group.
- The solid blue dots represent what Scott & White Health Plan recommends.
Guidelines for Adult Preventive Care: 
Regular check-up appointments, tests and screenings are very important to assure good health. The guidelines describe the tests, exams, immunizations and guidance recommended for each adult age group.
Guidelines for Child Preventive Care: Good medical care throughout childhood may provide a lifetime of benefits for good health. The guidelines describe the recommendations from newborn to age 18 including information related to proper immunizations, childhood development and safety.
Prenatal/Perinatal Guidelines for Normal Pregnancy: Regular check-ups by a doctor early in pregnancy are important for the health and proper growth of an unborn child. The guidelines describe the tests and evaluations that are recommended for a pregnancy without complications.
