Consumer-Directed Health Plans
Take control of escalating health care costs. Our consumer-directed health plans put you in charge and allow your employees to actively engage in the decision-making process. Individuals may choose to finance a portion of their premiums and medical care themselves, allowing for possible premium reduction and tax savings for you and for them. You can offer the following types of accounts:
First Dollar Coverage
- A consumer-directed product that does not require an HRA or HSA
- For groups in the Scott & White Health Plan Central Texas service area
- Several HMO plans available
- Tiered benefit structure
- Level 1: Employee receives 100% coverage for defined amount
- Level 2: Employee then pays deductible up to defined amount
- Level 3: 80/20 or other co-payment percentage coverage goes into effect along with office visit co-payments
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
- Employee participation is voluntary
- Tax savings to employers and employees
- Employee can pay certain medical expenses with pre-tax dollars
- Employer determines maximum contributions
- Selection of premium only plan, medical reimbursement and/or dependent care reimbursement plan
Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs)
- Employer-funded medical expense reimbursements with set funding levels and maximum contributions
- Unused funds can roll over from year to year at employer's discretion
- Can be offered as part of many of our plans
Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)
- Employees under the age of 65 are eligible to participate in an HSA if they have a qualified high-deductible health plan
- Employee and employer may contribute
- Contributions can be made pre-tax by employee and are tax deductible for employer
- Investment earnings accrue tax-free
- Distributions are tax-free if they are used to pay for qualified medical expenses
