Your Child's Health and Safety is Important to Us!

little boy in swimming poolSWHP strives to help our members get healthy, stay healthy and live longer. Your child's health is important to us as they grow to be young adults. We are here to assist you with remembering when to take your child for immunizations and a well-child visit.

Did you know that immunizing your child on time is one of the best ways to help keep him/her healthy? SWHP is here to guide you with the information you need to keep those immunizations and well-child visits up-to-date.

Immunization is a shared responsibility. Families, healthcare providers, and public health officials must work together to help protect the entire community. Keeping your child's immunizations (vaccines) current will help protect them from illnesses like measles, polio, whooping cough, and tetanus. Between the ages of 3-6, your child should receive, if they have not already:

  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertusis (DtaP); Tetanus, Diphtheria (TD)- last dose between 4-6 years old
  • Inactivated Polio (IPV) )- last dose between 4-6 years old
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) )- last dose between 4-6 years old
  • Varicella (chickenpox) )- last dose between 4-6 years old
  • Influenza- yearly

Well-child visits from 3-6 years of age are just as important as immunizations.  These are yearly visits with the doctor to ensure your child is growing at a healthy rate for his/her age. Your child's doctor will help you set the appropriate schedule for these visits.
