Scott & White Health Plan (SWHP) will once again receive a recognition award from the Texas Diabetes Council. This is the fourth consecutive year that we have received this award.
The Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Recognition Program is awarded to health plans in Texas who surpass the state average for Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) Comprehensive Diabetes Care. HEDIS consists of standardized performance measures. These measures are designed for comparing quality of care among managed care organizations. This tool is used by more than 90 percent of America's health plans. It measures performance on important dimensions of care and service. Basic service HMOs in Texas that have 5,000 or more members are required by Texas law to report HEDISÒ measures to the Center for Health Statistics, Texas Department of State Health Services.
SWHP has ongoing programs to remind members about recommended tests and exams. We also have a Diabetes Team to review the outcomes of these programs. We are proud of the recognition from the Texas Diabetes Council. We will continue to work toward improving care provided to our members.
