New Facility for Scott & White Health Plan

Groundbreaking ceremony Monday, August 17 -

TEMPLE, Texas -  The Scott & White Health Plan is constructing a new headquarters building for the Temple-based health insurance provider. Groundbreaking ceremonies will be held on Monday, August 17, at 9:30 a.m. and again at 5 p.m., at the construction site, 1206 West Campus Drive, just off Kegley Rd. and part of the Bioscience research Campus in Temple.

Planned for completion in summer of 2010, the new building facilitates the consolidation of over 334 employees currently spread throughout multiple locations in Bell County.

“The existing Health Plan building was constructed in 1985, but the existing site can no longer accommodate our growth,” said Allan Einboden, CEO of the Scott & White Health Plan. “We’re looking forward to bringing all of our Bell County offices under one roof so we can better serve our 250,000 members.”

“We’re proud of our Temple roots and are excited to be building our new home right here in Temple,” continued Einboden.

The Health Plan expects to gain increased efficiencies with the new facility. It will be built with the latest energy-saving technology and will incorporate flexibility to expand to meet future growth. The building per-square-foot cost is expected to be less than the expense of renting offices and maintaining operations in the Plan’s current location.

The new structure will be flanked in the back by Pepper Creek, with the Bioscience Research Campus and the Scott & White Continuing Care Hospital on either side. The location is also close to a proposed hike and bike trail.  The Health Plan is committed to making the new building, site and natural surroundings environmentally and aesthetically appealing.

“This setting is ideal. Our new home will be compatible with the look of other buildings on the campus and our staff can enjoy the beautiful view and closeness to nature,” said Einboden. “When other recreational amenities make their way here, the public will be able to enjoy these surroundings, too.”

The aesthetics of the area will be enhanced by the planting of well over 100 replacement trees, including oak, cypress, elm and myrtle trees.
